4 Ways To Recycle Leftover Wax
If you love candles and wax melts but can’t face throwing perfectly good wax away when they’re finished, you’re not alone! Whether you’re feeling crafty, looking to save a penny or want to lower your environmental impact, you’ll find a use for that used wax here that works for you…
Egg Carton Firelighters
If you’ve got a fireplace at home, fire pit outside, or you just need a little spark to get your summer barbecue going, this one is for you! Collect some dryer lint (which is *super* flammable), pop it in the compartments of your egg carton, and add some hot wax on top. Next time you need to light a fire – responsibly, of course – just tear off a section and you’ve got yourself an instant fire!
Give Your Bin a Better Fragrance
Bins can hold onto lingering smells pretty easily, and that’s not something we want in our kitchens! If there’s a little fragrance left in your wax melt, tape it to the inside of your bin lid. This will help to neutralise the nasty smells, and it’s a great way to use up the last bit of scent from your melts.
Unstick Your Zippers
There’s nothing more frustrating than a sticky zip. Leftover wax is great for getting things moving again, so rub some on the teeth of your zip and run the zipper up and down a few times. Absolute magick!
Waterproof Paper
This is such a fantastic hack: did you know that you can waterproof paper by rubbing wax on it? If your recipes are constantly getting stained and splattered by food, give this one a go and thank us later.
